HYDERABAD: The Punjagutta police on Friday arrested one Rambhupal Reddy and two of his associates on charge of killing Reddy's wife Manjula, a film financier. The woman had disappeared under mysterious circumstances from her posh flat in Somajiguda a month ago and was found dead in Palleru reservoir in Khammam district, some 320 km from here, three days later. "Reddy has been suspecting her fidelity for some time and plotted to eliminate her," West Zone DCP Amit Garg told a press conference.
Plotting murder
On June 27, Reddy had an argument with Manjula. The next day he asked his accomplices Ch. Mallikarjuna Reddy and N. Madhu Reddy to come to his flat. On their arrival, they were asked to hide in the kitchen. When Manjula came to the kitchen the trio throttled her to death. They stuffed her body in a gunny bag and dumped it in Palleru reservoir in Kusumanchi police station area.
Body to be exhumed
Her body surfaced three days later. The local police registered a case of suspicious death and buried the body since it remained unclaimed. The Punjagutta police said they narrowed down on the victim's husband after analysing data of his mobile phone calls. The victim's body would be exhumed. Rambhupal Reddy was earlier convicted in a murder caseby a trial court. After being jailed for two years, he was acquitted by the High Court.
