Selected for award

KOCHI: Lyricist R.K. Damodaran has been selected for Jaycey Foundation award for best lyrics for the song Omana unni nine... from the film Boyfriend. This was informed by the Jaycey Foundation award committee in a press release. The award will be given on August 17 at a function to be held at Fine Arts Hall along with other awards announced earlier. — Staff Reporter

Musical evening

KOCHI: K.J. Yesudas, Usha Uthup and Jayachandran will participate in a musical evening organised by Pratyasa Foundation Charitable Trust here on

September 2. The evening will also feature mimicry shows and dances. The proceeds from the programme will go into a `pre-marriage meet' that will help disabled persons to find life partners on December 3, the International Day of Disabled Day. — Staff Reporter

Kuwait Airways flight

NEDUMBASSERY: A Kuwait Airways flight, KU 352, was brought back to the Nedumbassery airport soon after take off on Friday morning owing to a technical snag. The flight, which took off at 5.55 a.m. returned at around 6.30 a.m. Later, the flight left more than four hours behind the schedule at 10.20 a.m. after rectifying the error. — A Correspondent

Air Sahara cuts fare

NEDUMBASSERY: Air Sahara has announced reduced fares for its services to three destinations from the Cochin International Airport. The renewed fare to Hyderabad is Rs.2,200, while to Delhi it is Rs.5,700 and to Kolkata the reduced fare is Rs.5,400. The airline routes all its services from Kochi via Hyderabad.

Agitation called off

KOCHI: The walkout agitation on July 31 called by the Joint Council of Action of Income Tax Officers Association Kerala unit and Income Tax Employees' Federation, Kerala Circle, has been called off following an agreement reached between the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the Council. — Staff Reporter
