KOCHI: The Government will give top priority to animal welfare and dairy development, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development C. Divakaran said here on Friday. He was speaking after inaugurating the Ksheera Karshaka Sangham's get-together and symposium organised by the district committee of the Sangham in association with the District Cooperative Bank. At the programme, the welfare fund for the dairy farmer was discussed. This will be implemented after revising it in favour of the farmers. The scheme for insurance coverage for all milch cattle will be implemented. Cattle feed production in public sector and cooperative sector will be enhanced, he added. P.M. Ismail, district president of the Sangham, presided. Receptions were accorded to Mr. Divakaran, M.M. Monayee, MLA, who is also the president of the Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank and Babu Paul, MLA. P.S. Shyla, district panchayat president, G. Sreenathan, director, Dairy Development Board and T.P. Markose, chairman, ERCMPU Ltd spoke.
