Thiruvananthapuram: A 15-year-old boy who had run away from his home in Agra was reunited with his family on Friday, courtesy the Childline authorities and the police. Pravin Kumar Baghel ran away from home because he failed the Class IX examinations and knew that his family had high expectations from him. They wanted their eldest son to go in for higher studies. Pravin did not have a clear idea where he was going when he boarded a train from Agra. After spending a night alone at Thiruvananthapuram railway station, he decided that he would go back to Delhi. Pravin was noticed by one of the Railway employees manning the ticket counter when he went to buy a ticket to Delhi. When asked about his whereabouts, the boy claimed that he had come to the city in search of work. The Railway staff alerted the Childline authorities here, who brought him to the Don Bosco Veedu on July 21. The boy is said to have told the counsellors at Childline that he was not interested in going back home because he did not wish to continue his studies. As Pravin could not provide his correct address, Childline contacted the police control room, which in turn alerted the Agra police. The boy had been missing from Agra since July 17 and a missing case had been filed at the local police station by his family. As soon as they received information about Pravin, his father, Rakesh Prasad, and grandfather, Raghunath Singh, sent word that they would come to collect the boy. On Friday, the boy was reunited with his family at Don Bosco Veedu. The boy's family has been counselled by Childline authorities not to pressurise the boy to continue his studies and to give him the option of vocational training.
