Defamation case dismissed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Soman on Friday dismissed a defamation case filed by Rishi Raj Singh, Inspector General of Police, Vigilance and security, Kerala State Electricity Board, against T.P. Sen Kumar, IG, State Human Rights Commission, in connection with an interview given by Mr. Sen Kumar to a national magazine in December 2005. The court held that the complainant had culled certain portions from the interview published in two pages to suit the allegations. "The accused has only criticised certain conduct of the complainant in his official functions. I find no ground to drag the accused in the court of law," the Magistrate stated in the order. — Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Income tax returns will be accepted at Thiruvananthapuram ISRO post office from Saturday. Additional counters have been provided to clear the heavy rush to submit tax returns in all head post offices in the State. — Special Correspondent

MCA rank list published

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The provisional rank list of candidates who wrote the entrance examination for admission to the MCA course has been published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. The first rank goes to Rosmi K. Chackochan. The rank list is available at the office of the CEE and on the website cee-kerala.org, a press note issued here on Friday said. — Staff Reporter

Community certificate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Candidates who have not submitted the certificates proving eligibility for admission in the community quota in 17 aided colleges in the State for the academic year 2006-07 should submit the same to the office of the CEE before 5 p.m. on August 5. Certificates sent by fax or delivered after the said time will not be considered. Students need not send these certificates to the colleges, a press note said.
