KOCHI: Rear Admiral Muttathil Puthanveetil Muralidharan took over as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at the Naval Base here on Friday. He will be responsible for training of ships' crew in different aspects related to the operations at sea. An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Kharakavasla, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy in January 1975 and specialised in Navigation and Direction. A recipient of `Nao Sena Medal,' the Flag Officer has commanded Indian Naval Ships Chatak, Sharda and Ranvijay. He has also been Fleet Operations Officer of the Indian Navy's Western Fleet. Rear Admiral Muralidharan was the Principle Director of Naval Operations at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi and Director, Indian Naval Tactical Evaluation Group, Mumbai. A post-graduate from the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, he served as the Directing Staff at the DSSC and at the Tactical Trainer in Mumbai. He was Naval Attache in the Embassy of India, Moscow, prior to taking over his present appointment. He is a resident of Ernakulam.
