DSIDC gets a new name

NEW DELHI: Delhi State Industrial Development Corporation will now be known as Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).

According to DSIIDC Managing Director Jalaj Shrivastava, the Corporation has taken up construction and infrastructure development activities in a big way and has already developed the Bawana Industrial Complex where more than 16,000 industries will be relocated from non-conforming areas of the Capital.

"In Bawana alone, the Corporation has constructed 3,164 houses for industrial workers using low cost technologies. It has also constructed combined effluent treatment plants in different industrial areas of Delhi," added Mr. Shrivastava.

Minister's cousin held for murder

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man allegedly wanted by the Uttar Pradesh police in connection with the murder of a businessman, who was the cousin of the State Irrigation Minister, was arrested in Chandni Chowk here on Thursday. The police claim to have recovered a country-made firearm from his possession.

The accused, Rahul, was arrested when he was waiting for his accomplices at Chandni Chowk. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to having killed Hazi Ezaz in Meerut this June. Ezaz was cousin of the State Irrigation Minister. According to the police, Rahul was also involved in two cases of kidnapping for ransom in Uttar Pradesh.

A hunt has been launched for his accomplices, Bhura, Ramu and Bobby, and the UP police have been informed.

Four arrested on murder charge

NEW DELHI: Four young men have been arrested for allegedly killing a businessman at Dakshinpuri in South Delhi on July 7.

According to the police, the body of Sanjay Naudiyal was found dumped in the Pushpa Vihar area on July 8. Enquiries revealed that Sanjay had a fight with one Rajesh and his friends. Subsequently, he along with three others, Pawan, Subhash and Pradeep, were picked up. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to their involvement. The police said Rajesh conspired with the others to eliminate Sanjay as he had teased his girlfriend.

ISO Certification ceremony

NEW DELHI: Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, have acquired the ISO Certification (ISO: 9001: 2000). The certification ceremony will be held here this coming Monday.

Qurrah function

for Haj held

NEW DELHI: The Qurrah function for Haj 2006-II was held at Aiwan-e-Ghalib here on Thursday. Delhi State Haj Committee Chairman Abdul Sami Salmani said 1,363 applicants were successful in the draw, while 217 applicants of last year whose cases were rejected were also confirmed. A total number of 1,580 names were cleared for Haj 2006-II. The programme was conducted by Delhi State Haj Committee Assistant Secretary Hafiz Matloob Karim.
