KOCHI: Nissar Ahmed, head of Philosophy at Sanskrit University, has suggested that the university take the initiative to get old Sanskrit texts on philosophy translated into Malayalam. In his talk on "Indian philosophy: a new perspective," organised by the Committee for Human Dignity at Kalady on Sunday, Dr. Ahmed said that Indian philosophical studies had largely followed the European academic framework and hence reflected the European academic agenda. In order to deeply understand Indian philosophy, a new framework was necessary and for this the original Sanskrit texts needed to be translated into the local languages.
