Search still on for missing Jadavpur University student

Special Correspondent

Kolkata: One of the five students of the team of trekkers from the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, which had gone on an expedition to the Ayodhya Hills in Purulia district on July 27, remained untraced till Sunday evening. The bodies of two members of the team were found on the banks of a rivulet on Saturday. While the search for Arundhuti Ghosh continued, the police are interrogating the survivors of the team, Bappaditya Chatterjee and Kaushik Sarkhel, who after being rescued on July 28 said their colleagues were washed away while crossing a rivulet in the hills. The two dead have been identified as Swati Das and Subhankar Saha.

Suspicions of foul play have not been ruled out following claims by local villagers that the three students reported missing earlier were seen to emerge from the rivulet at the foot-hills on Friday.

They, however, reportedly disappeared by the time the villagers returned with dry clothes for them.
