Pondicherry: The Pondicherry State Library and Information Assistants Association has urged the Pondicherry Administration to fill all vacancies particularly in branch libraries in rural areas. These libraries had been attached to the Department of Art and Culture. A release from the general secretary of the association S. Boominathan said that the association also wanted separate establishment of a Public Library Development department and extend the benefit of Assured Career Progression (ACP) to all the staff on seniority basis. It has announced a schedule of agitations to push their demands and also hold a demonstration on August 7.
