MANGALORE: General practitioners are leaders in the provision of health care services, said Lawrence D'Souza, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme held her on Sunday. He said that the first contact for patients were general practitioners located in their areas who then refer them for specialised treatment.. Director of Father Muller College, Baptist Menzes who inaugurated the programme, said that it was a forum for physicians to share their knowledge. Department of Medicine at Father Muller Medical College Hospital is conducting the programme after a gap of four years, said Dr. D'Souza. He asked the department to conduct three CME programmes in a year to facilitate greater interaction among general practitioners in the city. B. Sanjeev Rai, dean, Father Muller College, said the interaction with the doctors helped the hospital obtain useful feedback
