Mother kills child, commits suicide

CHENNAI: A woman allegedly killed her two-year-old daughter and later committed suicide by jumping into a well in Ambattur police station limits late on Saturday night.

Police said the woman, Nitya (40), was married to Karunakaran, engaged in the real estate business.

The couple resided at Venkateswara Nagar Rajarajan Street, Ambattur.

The bodies, which were reportedly found floating in a nearby well, were recovered by the fire and rescue service personnel.

Investigating officials recovered a suicide note from the spot. Ambattur police have registered a case.
