Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Monday in parts of Tondiarpet including Gangai Nagar and Manickam Nagar and Ennore including Ernavoor and Kaladipet between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work. On Tuesday, power supply will be suspended at Korattur and Tondiarpet areas including Nehru Nagar and part of Nethaji Nagar for maintenance work.

Seminar

A free seminar on women's perspectives on solutions to family problems will be organised for women by Prajapitha Brahmakumaris on Monday at Rajayoga Dyana Nilayam, 18/66, Ammaiyappan Street, Royapettah at 5.30 p.m. A training camp on freedom from depression will be organised on Tuesday and Wednesday at the same venue between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Medical camp

Around 200 people were screened at a medical camp organised by the Hindu Mission Hospital at Noothanchery, near Tambaram on Sunday. A team of seven doctors treated the patients for dental, paediatric and skin problems. Fifteen persons were referred for eye-related surgeries and two for other surgeries.

P.G. diploma in fashion designing

Yoga workshop

Felicitated

Ten persons from different fields, including A. Irudayam, deputy secretary of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India; V. Raghuraman, professor in management studies at Guru Nanak College and C. Madhumathi, training coordinator at TANSTIA-FNF, were honoured with `Winning Motivator Award' for their service in career motivation. The awards were jointly presented by Chennai HR Forum and MOP Vaishnav College.

Free counselling

P. L. Raj Memorial Study Circle is conducting a free counselling session for civil service aspirants at Hotel Pentagon in Thirumangalam on August 6 at 10.30 a.m. V. Saravanakumar who secured 82nd rank in Civil Services 2005 will guide candidates on approach to exams.

Placement assistance

Institute of Management Education and Training will be conducting an employability seminar with placement assistance at 28, College Road, Nungambakkam for freshers and experienced candidates.
