India calls for ceasefire in Lebanon
New Delhi
: India condemned as ``outrageous'' Israel's air strikes on Lebanon on Sunday, which left dozens of people dead and suggested an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the region.
``India strongly condemns the continued irresponsible and indiscriminate bombing of Lebanon by the Israeli military, ignoring calls for restraint,'' an official spokesman said in a statement.
The statement said ``particularly outrageous is the bombing this morning of the building in Oana in South Lebanon which has resulted in the deaths of dozens of innocent civilians, mostly women, children and old people who had taken shelter there.
``India expresses its deep condolences to the Government and people of Lebanon over this tragic incident.'' PTI
