Bangalore: Nearly 5,000 persons were registered for screening at the 13th eye camp organised by the Jain Youth Association under the Netra Jyothi Yojana here on Sunday. The camp was conducted by Narpat Solanki from Surana Project Drishti Eye Hospital and his team. Bangalore Mayor Mumtaz Begum, who visited the camp, said such camps would help control blindness and help in its prevention. She added that the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike was also conducting a number of camps to check the spread of chikungunya. She appealed to the people to take necessary precautions against mosquitoes, to control both chikungunya and malaria. She added that the BMP had allocated adequate funds for healthcare projects, which were being utilised judiciously. Dr. Narpat Solanki requested that land should to allotted for Project Drishti so that more such camps could be conducted.
