Jayatilak takes charge as District Collector

KOZHIKODE: .A. Jayatilak has taken charge as District Collector of Kozhikode.

Dr. Tilak held preliminary discussions with the district officials at the Collectorate here on Monday.

The District Collector also convened a special meeting of the Revenue Department officials at the conference hall.

Dr. Tilak, who holds an MBBS degree from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and a postgraduate degree from IAM, Bangalore, joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1991.

He was Project Director of Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project prior to taking charge as the District Collector. Kozhikode is also part of the Sustainable Urban Development Project being implemented with assistance of Rs.1,400 crores from the Asian Development Bank.

Dr. Jayatilak has served as Managing Director of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, and Tourists Resorts, Kerala Ltd.; Joint Secretary, Tourism Department; Director, Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies; and with the Kerala Institute of Hospitality Management Studies.

He is credited with setting up the Chattisgarh Tourism Board and the ABCD Project of the Kerala Tourism Department.

Dr. Jayatilak, who hails from Thiruvananthapuram, had won praise from the Panchayati Raj Ministry, Government of India, for exemplary performance in the implementation of the People's Plan programme while heading the Local Self Government Department.

His wife, Ishita Roy, has taken charge as District Collector of Kannur.
