KOLKATA: Defending champion Mohun Bagan started its season on a disastrous note going down 0-1 to Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) in the Premier Division match of the Sahara Calcutta Football League here on Monday. Striker Sujit Dey scored the winner, making the most of a Mohun Bagan defensive error in the 86th minute. Mohun Bagan missed the services of a few key players either owing to injuries or national duty. Having to rely on its bench strength, Bagan faced stiff opposition from CPT, which defended well and staved off Baichung Bhutia and young TFA recruit P.C. Lalawmpuia. CPT forward, Tapan Maity was adjudged the best player of the match by the journalists covering the match. Indian Football Association has started this new procedure from this season. The other two big names of the city, Mohammedan Sporting and Kingfisher East Bengal, will begin their campaign respectively on Tuesday and Wednesday. Principal Correspondent
