Murder case: all accused acquitted

KOLLAM: District Sessions Judge P. Bhavadasan acquitted all the 17 accused in the Pattazhi Pookunnumala murder case in which a 34-year-old man, Ajit Kumar, was murdered on the night of June 12, 1998.

The case filed by the Kunnicode police had charged that previous enmity was the cause of the murder and that it was pre-planned. The accused are activists of the Indian Dalit Federation. But the Prosecution failed to prove the charges. Lawyers N.T. Gopalan, E. Shahnavas Khan, Kaloor Kailasnath and Sajinath appeared for the accused.
