THRISSUR: `Al Boom' (`The Dawn') the first film from Oman, which was released in 2005, will be the inaugural film at the Thrissur International Film Festival (TIFF) scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Mayor R. Bindu, who is also the chairperson of the organising committee of TIFF, said noted filmmaker from Karnataka Girish Kasaravalli would inaugurate the festival. Directors Ashley Rathna Vibhushanae from Sri Lanka and Ruchi Narayanan from Mumbai will be among those who will speak at the inaugural session. In all, 80 films from 35 countries will be screened during the eight-day festival.
