9 SIMI men held in Jabalpur
Jabalpur:
In a major crackdown on the Students Islamic Movement of India, the police arrested nine persons here on Sunday in connection with the July 11 Mumbai blasts.
``Nine SIMI activists were arrested here during a special drive carried out on the basis of information about their presence in Gohalpur and Hanumantal areas. `Tarhik' and `Moment' books were seized from them,'' City Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh said.
Those arrested were identified as Sarfaraz, Haminuddin, Pervez Majid, Jameel Majid, Sarfaraz Ibrahim, Khurshid, Ashfak, Javed and Wasinuddin.
A mobile phone, belonging to SIMI activist Imran Ansari, who was arrested in Khandwa recently, was seized from Sarfaraz. Based on Imran's confession, the drive to nab SIMI activists was launched on Sunday evening.
