BANGALORE: The Government has decided to showcase Mysore as a destination for investment along with organising the traditional Dasara festivities in a grand manner. It will be the 201st Dasara festivities . Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who chaired a high-level committee meeting on the Dasara festivities here on Monday, directed officials of the Mysore district administration and the Tourism, Public Works and Information departments to put in place all arrangements before the festivities, which are to begin on September 23. Dasara or Navarathri will be held with traditional grandeur up to October 2. He also released a cassette on Dasara. The Chief Minister quoted a survey conducted by a magazine and said Mysore stood at the ninth place with respect to attracting investment while Bangalore was in the second place in the country. He directed Mysore Deputy Commissioner Selvakumar to prepare a detailed report on the finances required for taking up development works in connection with the festival. Works related to roads and drinking water needed priority to conduct the festival in an impressive way, he said. To attract tourists from abroad, he instructed the officials to place advertisement boards on the Bangalore-Mysore road and post detailed information on the website. A suitable personality will be identified to inaugurate the festivities in the year of the "Suvarna Karnataka" celebrations. The names of India cricket team captain Rahul Dravid, writer Girish Karnad and scientist U.R. Rao came up for discussion. The Chief Minister said the candidate would be identified in a week's time. Noted writer Baraguru Ramachandrappa inaugurated the Dasara festivities last year.
