Speech therapy

A two-month certificate course in speech therapy with focus on mental retardation has been developed by Thakur Hari Prasad Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the mentally challenged. Preference will be given to those who are serving voluntary organisations in the field of mental retardation and other disabilities. Interested may contact Director-General of THPI.

Training programme

Central Institute of English & Foreign Languages (CIEFL) will commence its professional Teacher Training Programme in B. Ed. English from Tuesday. This is the fourth batch in the series and is recognised by NCTE and UGC. The current batch has 60 students . According to a release, CIEFL has recorded 100 percent placement for the last three batches of the course.

Centralised selections

The Board of Apprenticeship Training has proposed to conduct centralised apprenticeship selections for the Intermediate students who passed vocational courses. The selections will be conducted at Government Junior College for Girls, Nampally on August 12 and 13. The programme is being organised jointly by the Commissioner of Intermediate Education and Board of Apprenticeship TrainingChennai, according to District Vocational Education Officer.

Free camp

A free skin and V. D. camp will be organised by Owaisi Hospital and Research Centre on August 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the outpatient block in ground floor. Besides 50 per cent concession will be given on all investigations. Further details can be had on phone 24343129 or 24340244.

Study skills

A day-long workshop on `study skills and examination techniques' for students of classes VI to X will be conducted at Literacy House in Andhra Mahila Sabha on August 20. For details contact Swarna Durga on phone 27098406, 27096464.

Airmen tests

An all India level Airmen selection tests for candidates in the category of Group Y trades of the Indian Air Force, began here on Monday at the Bowenpally Airmen Selection Centre.
