BANGALORE: Armed men robbed a software engineer and a temple priest of their gold ornaments in separate incidents reported from Ramamurthynagar and Yeshwanthapur police station limits in the early hours of Monday. Police said that around 3 a.m., two armed men broke into Krishna Mohan's second floor house on 1st C Cross, Kasturibanagar. They threatened Mohan, a software engineer, with a pistol and knives and relieved him of a gold chain and a bracelet, together worth Rs. 25,000. On a complaint by Mohan, the Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case. In the other incident, two men threatened Nagarajaiah (65), a temple priest, and robbed him of a gold chain worth Rs. 8,000 in Yeshwanthapur police station limits. The police said that around 5 a.m. Nagarajaiah, the priest of the Shanimahatma temple in Mutyalanagar, was walking near the temple. Two men accosted him and asked him for a matchbox. While Nagarajaiah was talking to them, they robbed him of his gold chain. The Yeshwanthapur police have registered a case.
Chains snatched
A man put his hands through an open window and snatched two gold chains from a woman, who was sleeping at her house in J.P. Nagar police station limits in the early hours of Monday. According to a complaint lodged by Vasudevaraju, a resident of 9th Cross, 2nd Phase, J.P. Nagar, around 4.30 a.m. the thief snatched the gold chains worth Rs. 25,000 from his niece, Tejaswini, who was sleeping near the window. The J.P. Nagar police have registered a case.
House burgled
Burglars struck at Javed Ahmed's house in Lakshmi Layout in Arakere on Bannerghatta Road and made away with cash and gold ornaments. The police said the thieves had entered Ahmed's house by breaking open the main door. The theft is said to have taken place between Friday morning and Sunday night. On a complaint by Ahmed, a newspaper employee, the J.P. Nagar police have registered a case.
Pedestrian killed
A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Kanakapura Road, off Konanakunte Cross, on Sunday night. The police, who are yet to ascertain the identity of the man aged around 35, have kept his body at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences. The Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle.
