Soon, farmers can get land records at hobli level

Jagadish Shettar says all land records will be computerised in the next four months

  • Foundation stones laid for four power stations in the district

    Belgaum: The Government has decided to issue "pahani patra" (land records) to farmers through hoblis.

    Announcing this at a function after laying the foundation stone for building a Mini Vidhana Soudha at Ramdurg on Monday, district in-charge and Revenue Minister Jagdish Shettar said the land records were hitherto issued only through taluk offices.

    In four months, the Government would issue "pahani patras" and certificates such as annual income, caste, physically handicapped and so on in 800 hoblis.

    He said the Government had urged the Centre to extend the last date for registration for crop insurance scheme as many farmers faced financial difficulties because of losses due to drought and excess rainfall in several parts of the State.

    Mr. Shettar asked the district authorities to take steps to protect life and property of the people during floods in the Krishna. Legislative Council Chairman Sachidanand Khot, who laid the foundation stone for a museum building (Ramdurg town), said the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition Government had accorded priority to development works in the district.

    Minister for Public Works and Energy H.D. Revanna, who laid the foundation stone for a 110 kV station at Salahalli, said the Government had sanctioned Rs. 186 crore to improve the power distribution system.

    Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basawaraj Horatti laid the foundation stone for a 110 kV station at Ramdurg.

    He said Karnataka was the first State in the country to sanction libraries for 5,686 gram panchayats in the state.

    Marketing

    Horticulture Minister Shashikant Naik, who laid the foundation stone for 33 kV station at Madakavi, said he would pay attention to streamlining marketing system for agriculture produce.

    Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Karjol laid the foundation stone for a 33 kV station at Chunchnur.

    Suresh Angadi, Belgaum MP, and MLAs Jagdish Metgud and Suresh Marihal were present.
