HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has accredited 42 training institutes across the State to improve the communication skills of young graduates help them increase their value in the job market. The accreditation, given in collaboration with the Institute of Service Management (ISM), is formally for a Foundation Course in Communication Skills (FCCS) that will begin in mid-August, APSCHE Chairperson K.C. Reddy told reporters here on Monday. The Rs.1,500 per head course, which can be delivered over a three-and-a-half month period is actually 50 hours long and is aimed at improving the soft skills and professional capabilities of individuals, mainly young graduates. Material for the part-time course is delivered both online and face-to-face facilitator interaction. It has 25 hours of self-paced multimedia courseware and 25 hours of facilitator activity-based interaction, Mr. Reddy said. Mentors and trainers who will conduct the course have been trained and accredited by APSCHE.
Certificate course
Participants will have to undergo an online exam conducted by the Council at the end of the course, after which a certificate will be presented to them. The Council, through ISM, will also provide support to the institutes for placements in MNCs and other industries in the state, he added. Some of the 42 institutes would also offer training for the Graduate Employability Test (GET), an industry accepted exam for IT and ITES sectors. Mr. Reddy said the FCCS, launched last year, had not received an encouraging response with only 100 graduates joining 32 institutes.
Publicity campaigns
However, this year, with 10 more institutes joining the list and publicity campaigns on, it was expected that the 40-student per batch capacity for each institute would be justified. There will be a screening test before admission to the course, to judge his existing standards. Those interested can get details from the APSCHE website - www.apsche.org.
