BANGALORE: The Government would soon come out with a new industrial policy extending all facilities for investors, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said here on Tuesday. Presenting the Awards for Excellence in Exports from Karnataka, Mr. Yediyurappa said the State's exports touched Rs. 82,279.60 crore and was expected to win a share of 15.05 per cent of the country's exports during 2005-06. There was a shift from traditional export products such as raw material to value-added export products. High value-added products such as petroleum products, software, gems and jewellery contributed the most to exports from the State, he said. The State's exports for 2005-06 were over 31 per cent higher over the previous year's Rs. 62,638.56 crore. The national growth rate was only 27 per cent. The State's exports were growing over 35 per cent for the last four years. Drawing attention to the Government's initiatives to enhance export growth, Mr. Yediyurappa listed them as development of international airport, food parks, inland container depots, special economic zones, deregulations of business and the involvement of industry and trade. Efforts were on to make the State a model State not only in India but also in the world, he said. Minister for Large and Medium Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu said the State had emerged top in software exports with a share of 36 per cent of the country's exports. The State also ranked among the top four in garments exports and was among the top two States in engineering exports in South India.
He said the Government proposed to bring in a single window table system for speedy clearance of industrial projects. Identifying power shortage as a major problem, he said a private company had proposed to set up a plant to generate 4,000 MW.
