KOLLAM: Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Vijaya Kumaran on Tuesday inspected the facilities and equipment attached to the Kollam Railway Station. He expressed dissatisfaction at the functioning of many of the facilities at the station. Passengers and others coming to the railway station had often raised many complaints on the manner in which facilities at the station functioned. However, these continued to be ignored by the station authorities. It was in the wake of such a situation that the DRM made the surprise inspection. During the inspection, he ordered changes and improvement in the functioning of the facilities. The performance of some of the old equipment was also tested. These include the travelling steam crane. Later talking to mediapersons, Mr. Kumaran said that the commissioning of the electric line from Kayamkulam to Thiruvananthapuram depends upon how soon the Kerala State Electricity Board would be able to provide power supply. He said that he expected the commissioning to take place within the next two months.
