MOSCOW: Russia's famed Hermitage Museum has reported the theft of more than 220 exhibits, jewellery and enamelled objects, worth around $5 million. The St. Petersburg museum gave few details about the investigation, saying only officials learned of the missing items during a routine inventory check. The museum said the curator in charge of most of the collection where the theft occurred died suddenly at his workplace when the check began and that his colleagues had discovered the items were missing. The museum did not identify the curator nor say when nor how he died. AP
