Scheme to be reviewed

NEW DELHI : The Government on Tuesday said it would revisit the Senior Citizens Savings Scheme at an appropriate time to review the lock-in period of five years.

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram gave this assurance while replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha. He said there was no proposal to review the general tax exemption for senior citizens at an annual income of Rs 1.85 lakh or on the interest rate of nine per cent per annum.
