Rupee reacts against $

MUMBAI: The rupee reacted negatively and fell by four paise to close at 46.59/60 a dollar following weakening Japanese yen against the U.S. currency in Asian trade.

In lacklustre range-bound trading at the interbank foreign exchange market here, the rupee began weak at 46.60/62 and later stayed stuck at 46.63-46.64 during most of the day. The rupee had risen by 13 paise on Monday due to distinctly weak dollar overseas. There was hardly any activity in the forex market as weakening yen had negative impact on the rupee, a leading forex dealer said. — PTI
