Junior Nationals from Aug. 23

NEW DELHI: The National junior (under-19) chess championships will be held at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here from August 23 to 30.

In this 11-round event, competition will be held separately for boys and girls. The prize-fund will be Rs. 62,500 for boys and Rs. 56,500 for girls. Those born after January 1, 1987 are eligible to take part.

The Delhi Chess Association secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan said this would be the first of the three major events to be held in the Capital this season. The Asian junior championship is scheduled from November 7 to 15 and the annual Parsvnath International Open from January 14 to 22, 2007.
