Kanika sets up title clash with Shivika

NEW DELHI: Kanika Kanwal set up a title clash with Shivika in the girls under-10 section of the ASN Delhi State inter-school badminton tournament at the Ludlow Castle School No. 2, Shamnath Marg, here on Tuesday.

Modern School, Barakhamba Road, did well to make two of the three finals while the host, ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar, went down fighting in the semifinals of the under-16 and under-13 sections.

The results (semifinals): Girls: Under-19: Modern School, Barakhamba Road, beat Ahlcon School, Mayur Vihar, 2-0 (Akansha bt Jyoti 21-10, 21-18; Papino bt Akanksha 21-14, 21-8); DAV, Model Town, bt Andhra Education Society 2-0 (Sharda bt Priyanka 22-20, 15-21, 21-10; Nupur bt Shweta 21-9, 21-9).

Under-16: Ahlcon School, Mayur Vihar, bt Modern School, Barakhamba Road, 2-0 (Aanchal bt Tanima 21-11, 21-15; Nitika bt Anania 21-7, 21-12); Gujarat School bt ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar, 2-1 (Yamini Sharma lost to Heena Bhatia 16-21, 21-12, 17-21; Yamini Kulesh bt Seema Chugh 21-19, 21-16; Yamini Sharma and Yamini Kulesh bt Heena Bhatia and Seema 21-19, 21-13).

Under-13: Modern School, Barakhamba Road, bt Holy Child School 2-1 (Shreya Aggarwal bt Shreya Suri 21-2, 21-10; Gauri Ashija lost to Rashmi Kaur 14-21, 17-21; Shreya and Gauri Ashija bt Rashmi and Shreya Suri 21-18, 17-21, 21-19); DPS, Mathura Road, bt ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar, 2-1 (Shambhavi bt Gazala 21-12, 21-15; Lakshmi lost to Shweta 10-21, 17-21; Shambhivi and Lakshmi bt Shweta and Gazala 21-18, 20-22, 21-18).

Under-10: singles: Kanika Kanwal bt Vishakha 21-6, 21-9; Shivika bt Rajeshwari 21-18, 21-15.
