COIMBATORE: The Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology will start functioning this academic year, chairman S. Thangavelu, told presspersons here on Tuesday. Located on 25 acres on L & T Bypass Road, the institution would offer four undergraduate programmes - B.E. Computer Science Engineering, B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering, B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology. It has been approved by the All India Council of Technical Education and is affiliated to Anna University. Mr. Thangavelu said that scholarships would be given to the meritorious. Tuition fees of those who have scored 260 marks and above in the TNPCEE would be waived. And students who have scored marks between 255 and 259 would be given 75 per cent waiver. Those who have obtained 250 to 254 marks would be given a 50 per cent waiver. Education loans would be provided to the needy, he added. The institution would provide hostel accommodation for boys and girls. All the classrooms would be equipped with an LCD projector in order to enable them with audio-visual facilities. Students would also be given training in communication skills.
