Two arrested in Chittapur murder case

Gang of three commit theft and murder on July 20


  • Robbers steal cash and murder inmates of a house
  • Kingpin of the gang absconds
  • Arrests made within ten days of the crime

    NIZAMABAD: The Armoor police on Tuesday arrested two men who were involved in the sensational murder of three persons at Chittapur village in Balkonda mandal on July 20.

    A gang of three- Arssala Adellu, Kokkapothula Gangaram and Arssala Sailoo of Adilabad district had gone on a robbery spree in Chittapur. After plundering a house and a dhaba (wayside hotel) they descended upon the residence of Seelam Pedda Lakshma Reddy.

    In a drunken state they beat to death Pedda Lakshma Reddy (58) and his son, Venkatramana Reddy (25) and their tenant Ambati Venka Goud (60) when they were fast asleep before fleeing with a cash of Rs.3,000. They also attacked Lakshma Reddy's wife Eswaramma who is now recuperating.

    Earlier incident

    Earlier, they had threatened Medari Balavva and robbed silver ornaments from her and took away Rs.8,000 in cash along with some beer bottles from a dhaba on Chittapur cross road.

    Presenting the accused before media persons, here on Tuesday, Deputy Inspector General, Anjani Kumar and Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha said Sailoo, the kingpin of the gang called Edibidi was absconding.

    The incident had created panic in the district. Therefore, special police parties swung into action within no time and arrested the gang in a matter of ten days.

    The gang had also committed theft in three houses at Rengerla village of Balkonda mandal in June, the police officers said.
