Vilasrao Deshmukh
PALSI (ADILABAD Dt.): Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Tuesday said his Government would abide by the decision of the Central Water Commission (CWC) on the construction of the controversial Babli project across the Godavari. He said a report of the high-power committee on the matter is yet to be submitted to the CWC after which the latter would give its decision. Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh interacted with reporters here while on a private visit to this village in Kubeer mandal, the native place of his in-laws. He reiterated that Maharashtra would be committed to any agreement, which would be reached on Babli subsequent to the CWC decision. On the prevalence of chikungunya in the bordering districts of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, the Maharashtra Chief Minister said a strategy to curb the spread was being worked out jointly by Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. On the naxalite menace, he said the Directors-General of Police of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were in constant touch on the issue and soon a meeting of Chief Ministers of the two States would be held.
