ANANTAPUR: Single window system was launched for issuance of new basic phone connections by the Anantapur telecom district of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited here on Tuesday. As part of the special offer valid till the month-end the applicants for new b-fone connections will not be charged installation charges of Rs. 500. Giving the details to newspersons here, BSNL General Manager Md. Nayeemuddin said that the new connections would be given within three days of application or earlier. Monthly rental for default period of disconnected basic phone consumers also would not be collected for re-connection during the offer period. In spite of the rapid growth of cellular phone connections the basic phone connections in the district had crossed1.04 lakhs. They had an installed capacity to give 1.5 lakh connections. Besides, 6,975 wireless in local loop (WLL) connections were also provided in the district against the capacity of 17,250 connections in 20 places.
