"Start super speciality departments at GH"

Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI : The Tiruchi District Branch of Tamil Nadu Government Doctors' Association has appealed to the Government to start super speciality departments such as neuro-surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery, urology etc., at the K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College Hospital. This would help the public besides developing the functioning of the college.

Though adequate specialists in such fields were available, the people could not be benefited in the absence of super speciality departments at the government hospital, the association's district president S. Selva Pandian said.

He appealed to the Government to establish two more units in general medicine and general surgery at the hospital.

Dr. Pandian urged the Centre to upgrade the hospital on a par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at an outlay of Rs. 100 crore.

The association thanked Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for announcing MRI scan facility at the hospital in the State budget.
