NIZAMABAD: The Nizamabad police here on Monday arrested a Nigerian national, Enwan Tony alias Prince John Martis, who overstayed in the country. The 33-year-old Tony belonging to Ubiaja town in Nigeria arrived in the country on a tourist visa on September 24, 2004. His visa expired on March 23 last year and he has been overstaying since then. During interrogation, he confessed to cheating people by offering original US dollars in a 1:3 ratio. Deputy IG Anjani Kumar said the accused along with his accomplices Addu and John, who were absconding, used to make people believe that they could provide US dollars three times the Indian currency they paid. The accused would initially show one US dollar, put it in between two photo films covering papers and apply some chemicals after binding it over with rubber bands. Subsequently, he would ask the party to keep the packed dollar in a refrigerator for 24 hours after which the dollar would become three. While doing so he would put three original dollars in the bundle and hand them over to the party. After 24 hours he would again contact the party and having been convinced they would give him huge money in exchange for the US dollars. Then he would prepare the bundles and hand them over to the party telling them to keep it in a fridge.
