Land auction opposed

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Association on Monday organised `chalo Hyderabad' rally culminating in a dharna here demanding house-sites for the poor and opposing disposal of Government land through auctions.

R. Krishnaiah, president, led the protest in which poor people from different districts converged after the rally at Indira Park. The protestors raised slogans expressing their resolve to block the land auctions and resenting the Government's `negligent and anti-poor attitude.'

He criticised the Government for allowing the affluent sections to secure possession of land.
