BANGALORE: A labourer was killed after he fell from the fifth floor of an apartment complex under construction in Madivala police station limits on Monday evening. Police said Muralidhar Span (40) fell while he was working at the building in Kodichikkanahalli. Muralidhar, a native of Orissa, was a resident of Kaverinagar here. The Madivala police have registered a case against the builder and the contractor.
Falls to death
Govinda (28) of Channapatna in Bangalore Rural district was killed after he accidentally fell from a moving train near Kengeri on Monday evening. The police said Govinda, who was travelling by the Chamundi Express, was sitting on the footboard. The City Railway police have registered a case.
Computers stolen
Thieves broke into a computer firm in Munekolalu in HAL police station limits and made away with six computers, six speakers and 40 monitors, together worth Rs. 3.5 lakh. According to a complaint lodged by the proprietor of the firm, the theft is said to have taken place between Saturday night and Tuesday morning. The HAL police have registered a case.
Ganja seized
The City Market police on Sunday arrested Balarangaiah (32) of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh on charges of drug peddling and seized from him 10 kg of ganja, estimated at Rs. 60,000. The police said they arrested the accused while he was trying to sell the substance on Bandimot Road. Balarangiah was arrested on a similar charge by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff four years ago, the police said.
Life sentence
The IX Fast Track Court has convicted and sentenced two autorickshaw drivers to life imprisonment for murdering Prashanth (22), also an autorickshaw driver. On March 11, 2004, Loki (25) and Anand (25) hacked Prashanth to death at T.R. Shamanna Nagar in Hanumanthanagar police station limits. The two had murdered Prashant, their childhood friend, as he had complained against them to the autorickshaw owners, the charge sheet said.
