HYDERABAD: A Saidabad housewife Salma allegedly doused her painter husband with kerosene and burnt him to death. Later, her attempt to kill herself in similar fashion only resulted in both she and her toddler daughter Neha battling for life with 90 per cent burns at Osmania General Hospital and her eight-year-old stepdaughter Ameena being charred to death.
Heated argument
According to police, it all started with an argument between Salma and her husband Haneef on Monday night when the former accused him of failing to bring adequate groceries for four members of the family. "Ameena and Neha were sleeping on the floor and suffered serious burns when their parents, engulfed in flames, fell on them," Saidabad Inspector Rammohan Rao said. Alerted by their cries, neighbours shifted them to the OGH. But Ameena and Haneef died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment. Doctors said the condition of Salma and Neha was critical. Police registered a murder case against Salma after recording a dying declaration of her husband who said she tried to kill him. Salma, however, in her statement said they suffered burns following kerosene-stove blast.
