THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the All India Students Federation (AISF) took out separate marches to private self-financing medical colleges in the State on Tuesday in protest against "the college managements' decision to go ahead with illegal admissions based on capitation fees." As the first year classes were to start on Tuesday, the authorities had taken precautionary measures to ensure peace and order. Sufficient police protection was provided to all the medical colleges. In Thiruvananthapuram, marches were taken out to Sree Gokulam Medical College at Venjaramoodu and CSI College at Karakkonam. The SFI demanded the setting up of a democratic forum for Plus Two students in the State. Inaugurating the dharna in front of the Secretariat, SFI State secretary M. Swaraj said while students from the school level to the college level were able to come together on democratic platforms, those in Plus Two were denied this opportunity.
