Staff Reporter

Against `delay' in emigration clearance for job-seekers

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress activists took out a march to the office of the Protector of Emigrants (POE) at Thycaud here on Tuesday demanding immediate steps for the speedy clearance of emigration for those going abroad for employment and on visit visa.

Nearly 100 activists took out a march from Swathi Tirunal Music College junction to the office of the POE situated nearby. The activists raised against the POE for `causing' delay in emigration clearance and staged protest inside the office of the POE.

Congress workers said emigration clearance was being denied to job-seekers, especially those going to West Asian countries, for simple reasons. Many were asked to come again on one pretext or the other.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee executive member K. Mohanachandran inaugurated the meeting organised in the POE office.
