Tara Iyer loses

NEW DELHI: Qualifier Tara Iyer lost 1-6, 4-6 to seventh seed Xie Yan-Ze of China in the first round of the $25,000 ITF women's tournament at Changsha, China.

In the $10,000 ITF women's tournament at Bangkok, fourth seed Parul Goswami lost 4-6, 1-6 to qualifier Daowadueng Phonkan of Thailand while Asha Nandakumar went down 6-7(1), 0-6 to the fifth seed Thassha Vitayaviroj of Thailand.

The second seed Punam Reddy retired at 1-3 against qualifier Selma Andrade of the Netherlands.
