Sudalaimuthu scalps five
Sudalaimuthu's five for 17 helped host Tirunelveli carve out a handsome 135-run victory over Perambalur in the TNCA-inter-district under-15 cricket tournament at ICRC turf ground in Tirunelveli on Wednesday. The scores: Tirunelveli 265 for eight in 50 overs (Prasanth 57, Sathish 37, Kannan 38, Sriram 30) bt Perambalur 130 in 30 overs (Mahesh 47, Kannan four for 24, Sudalaimuthu five for 17). Namakkal 183 in 42.1 overs (Manivannan 94, Manoj three for 32) lost to Thanjavur 186 for three in 38.4 overs (Aravindan 68, Balakarthick 52).
Vijayalakshmi bags double
B. Vijayalakshmi (P.V. Selvaraj GHSS) won the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke title in the senior category at the monthly sports competition conducted by Thanjavur unit of SDAT in Thanjavur. Manasa triumphs
At Coimbnatore, Manasa Suresh of PSG CAS breezed to a comfortable 21-15 win over Kartiki Selena of Dr. GRD and lifted the women's singles title in the 24th State-level inter-collegiate badminton tournament for the PSG Trophy on Wednesday. In the semifinals, Manasa defeated Divya of PSG Tech 21-14 and Kartiki scored a 21-19 win over Varshini of PSG Tech. Nilgiris, Erode post wins
Nilgiris and Erode districts posted easy wins in the TNCA under-15 inter-district tournament (E-Zone) at the Lawrence School and HPF grounds in Udhagamandalam on Wednesday. Nilgiris fashioned an eight-wicket win over Dindigul DCA and Erode defeated Pudukottai DCA by six wickets. The scores: Dindigul DCA 81 lost to Nilgiris DCA 83 for two in 19.3 overs; Pudukottai DCA 70 lost to Erode DCA 71 for four in 13.3 overs.
SIT in final
Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti and Shanmuganathan Engineering College, Pudukottai entered the final of the Anna University zone 9 inter-engineering kabaddi tournament at KLN College of Information Technology ground in Madurai on Wednesday.
