VIJAYAWADA : Dealers of cooking gas cylinders should not take more than two days to deliver the orders placed by customers, Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar made clear on Wednesday. Reviewing the status of supply and distribution of cylinders and kerosene with representatives of oil companies and civil supply officials, Mr. Kumar observed the problem was arising partly on account of panic booking by customers , amidst fears that it would take longer to get a refill. But when the cylinder actually arrived faster than they expected, they were returning it citing non-availability of an empty cylinder as the reason. Mr. Kumar said this was contributing to the waiting list, and hence, customers should place an order for refill only when they required it. "If you don't get the cylinder in two days, take the matter to the notice of sales officers of oil companies or civil supply officials," he suggested. In case of any delay , customers of Indane Gas (Indian Oil Company) can call 98485-37152, while those of Bharat Gas (Bharat Petroleum Company) need to contact 94402-59048.
Ensure balance
District Supply Officer K. Singaiah can be contacted at 08672-252493, while assistant supply officer of circle-I can be contacted at 99481-91199 and circle II at 98489-18408. Mr. Kumar said there was no shortage of cylinders but some dealers were creating an artificial scarcity. As some dealers were booking more number of cylinders than necessary, oil companies must ensure a balance was maintained in distribution of cylinders. The joint collector asked kerosene dealers to complete the job of distribution of stocks among retail dealers and hawkers by the 25th of every month. Every kerosene tanker must run only on the route earmarked for it , he warned.
Revoke licences
Pointing to instances of diversion of cooking gas and kerosene meant for domestic use to commercial establishments, Mr. Kumar wanted the municipal officials to conduct raids on such establishments and revoke the trade licences.
