BJP objects to Sonia's remarks

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken strong exception to two statements made by Congress party president Sonia Gandhi at Tuesday's meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party.

BJP's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha V. K. Malhotra objected to her saying that persons from one community should not be targeted in connection with terrorism and the Mumbai blasts. It was the Congress that was in the driver's seat both at the Centre and in Maharashtra, he pointed out, so who was targeting persons from one community? He also said that this was perhaps a "very wrong signal" to the police and other authorities to discourage them from carrying out a thorough probe. "While all Muslims were not terrorists, in the Mumbai blasts case the terrorists were most probably Muslims," he said.
