Karol Bagh double murder suspect held

Sikander nabbed at New Alipur Duar allegedly confesses to his hand in the crime No clues yet in Inderlok case

NEW DELHI: The sole suspect in the double murder of an elderly couple at Karol Bagh in Central Delhi this past Monday has been arrested. However, the police are yet to make a breakthrough in the Inderlok murder case in North Delhi the same day in which seven members of a family were found brutally done to death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Neeraj Thakur said the double-murder suspect, Sikander, was arrested at New Alipur Duar in West Bengal on Wednesday. A mobile phone belonging to the victims was also reportedly recovered from him.

"During initial questioning he confessed to his involvement in the murders. He also claimed that he was the only one involved in the crime," said Mr. Thakur. Sikander is now being brought to the Capital.

Mr. Thakur said the exact sequence of events would be established after questioning him thoroughly. It seems Sikander left Delhi by train and then moved to different places to avoid arrest.

Earlier, the police armed with a Jalpaiguri address of Sikander had left for West Bengal. Sikander, who was registered with Kuber Placement Agency in Green Park Extension, had been hired by the Grover couple only four days before he allegedly committed the murders. The elderly couple in the 70s, who used to live alone, had changed three domestic helps within a month before hiring Sikander.

In the other case, the Crime Branch of the Delhi police is working on several theories. A police officer, however, refuted reports appearing in some sections of the media that certain body parts of all the victims were disfigured or mutilated. He said only the necks of the victims, Om Prakash, his wife Santosh, daughters Manju, Preeti, Dolly, Pooja and son Anuj, were slit with a sharp-edged weapon.
