BANGALORE: Posing as customers, two men diverted the attention of a sales boy and made away with 12 gold chains from a jewellery shop in Magadi Road police station limits on Wednesday afternoon. The police said that around 1.30 p.m., two men came to Navarathna Jewellers in Manjunathnagar. As the proprietor was away, sales boy Deepak (12) was alone at the shop. The two pretended to look at gold chains and made away with 12 of them, together estimated Rs. 72,000, the police said. The Magadi Road police have registered a case.
Software engineer robbed
Three armed men stabbed a software engineer with a knife and robbed him of a mobile phone in HAL police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. The police said that around 1 a.m., Sanjay Krishna, a resident of Doddanekundi, was returning home on his motorcycle. Three men riding a motorcycle waylaid him on ISRO Road and stabbed him on the hand and snatched his mobile phone estimated at Rs. 5,000.
As they were trying to drive away on Mr. Krishna's motorcycle, they noticed a jeep coming towards the spot. They abandoned the motorcycle and fled the spot.
Robbery bid foiled
Alert passers-by chased and caught one of the three persons who attempted to rob an ICICI bank employee in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits on Tuesday night.
The police said that around 11 p.m., M. Mahesh was returning home in Jaimarutinagar. Three men, riding a motorcycle, waylaid him near Sri Prasanna Veeranajaneya temple in Mahalakshmi Layout and threatened him with a knife.
As Mr. Mahesh raised an alarm, some people, who were travelling in a city-taxi, came to his rescue. They, along with Mr. Mahesh, chased the robbers and caught one of them. He was identified as Govindaraju (19), a construction worker of Govindarajanagar.
