`Primary health centres being privatised'

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Dalith Sangarsha Samiti (DSS) has alleged that the State Government was privatising several Primary Health Centres (PHC), denying access to health care for lakhs of poor people, said DSS State convenor Mavalli Shankar.

"The Primary Health Centre on Peenya National Highway was providing health services over the past four decades. But the Government shifted it to Thippenahalli on June 12 this year. The Government has not given any reason for shifting the centre," he said.

Mr. Shankar told presspersons here on Wednesday that seven PHCs had been privatised, including those at Nandini Layout, Yelahanka and near Sheshadripuram College, he said. The Government was planning to privatise 25 more centres, he said.
